Description:
• The Strategic Sourcing Manager (SSM) is an individual contributor role within the Procurement team reporting to a Vice President.
• The SSM has enterprise accountability for developing sourcing strategies which will optimize cost, drive ongoing performance from the supply-base and increase value-for-money associated with the IT hardware category.
• The SSM will use their market knowledge to develop and disseminate world-class approaches to spend management in the area of IT hardware.
• Additionally, the SSM will provide counsel and coaching to other Procurement team members.
Key Responsibilities:
• Accountable as a single owner at TELUS for the spend category of IT hardware (both internally to business unit leaders and externally to vendors).
• Create and lead strategic sourcing initiatives to minimize category spend (3-5 projects per year).
• Provide strategic insights on transactional movements in annual spend associated to the specific category.
• Identify/drive strategic approach to achieving annual savings targets and track results, present updates, analysis, and recommendations to management.
• Responsible for supplier / vendor performance including chairing regular performance reviews, business development and supplier awards programs.
• Champion procurement transformation projects.
• Mentor and educate other team members in procurement concepts, financial analysis and world-wide marketplace practices.
Qualifications:
Required Knowledge and Skills:
• Deep knowledge of IT hardware and related technologies.
• Superior ability to influence and build relationships (both internally and externally).
• Superior negotiation skills.
• Ability to lead small to medium size cross functional project teams.
• Strong quantitative and analytical skills.
• Ability to work effectively with Executives in an organization.
• Ability to maintain perspective and confidence in face of difficult contract negotiations, tight deadlines and client expectations.
• Excellent problem solving, strategic thinking and planning skills.
• Solid project management skills.
• Proven leadership skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Required Education and Experience:
• Proven experience structuring deals/contracts (ie. determine terms and conditions.
• Relevant IT hardware strategic sourcing experience.
• Supplier development / monitoring experience.
• Relevant experience working in a fast-paced, complex environment.
• Bachelors degree and / or 8+ years of equivalent experience.
Desirable Qualifications:
• Relevant experience in a large consulting firm.
• Experience in Account Management or Business Development related positions.
• Project management certification (PMI) or completion of the courses.
• Experience with eSourcing tools.
• Experience with SAP.
• MBA degree.
