Description:

• Support the global procurement and sourcing organization in the development of the global/local supplier matrix through the in put of Wal-Mart strategy and sourcing requirements.
• Identify which elements of the Global/local supplier matrix are appropriate to meet Wal-Mart seasonal needs.
• Develop vendor matrix to be able to source and negotiate proper quality and timely merchandise that supports the Wal-Mart sourcing strategy.
• To consult during product development to ensure target costs can be met for quality that supports our strategy.
• To bring new product development ideas back to the Design team from their interaction with vendors.


Position Responsibilities:

We are looking for someone who has had experience in the following:

• Create, maintain and audit vendor matrix to execute sourcing of merchandise to ensure timely delivery, appropriate quality and targeted profitability.
• Give direction and support to the vendor base to improve efficiency and quality thereby improving the value to our customers.
• Understanding sourcing knowledge/intelligence in marketplace.
• Develop annual business plans with vendors and evaluate them on quality performance.
• Provide key inputs on capabilities & capacities of overseas suppliers and details of country core competency in build up to the Wal-Mart category strategy.
• Drive implementation and effective execution of all strategies.
• Exploit the opportunities presented by the Global Supplier Matrix, with an in-depth understanding of their value chain, capacities & capabilities to effectively manage the retail market’s requirements on price, quality, delivery, innovation and responsible sourcing.
• Identify trends, provide market intelligence, and use the available information to determine the competitor trends.
• Effectively communicate with cross functional groups to resolve complex business issues with respect to product specifications, lead times, costs, supplier alignment etc.
• Build the Wal-mart relationship with strategic suppliers and develop sustainable partnerships.
• Work with the buyers and Specialists to drive global opportunities.
• Drive sustainable sourcing initiatives.
• Promote then follow up on personal/staff performance, growth and development through performance appraisals and Personal Development Plan (PDP) plans.


Qualifications:

• 6 plus years experience in Merchandising either in a buyer or procurement function.
• Bachelors degree preferred.
• Global experience in purchasing and sourcing, strong experience retail business.
• Excellent communication and organization skills required to address the extensive of multiple offices around the world.
• Excellent problem solving.
• Creatively able to develop alternative solutions to achieve product and business objectives.
• Able to manage large amounts of data.
• Analytical.
• Establishes efficient processes in order to make sound decisions.
• Able to work under pressure.
