Description:

• Within CTR IT, the Online Business Analyst manages project work related to business requirements and solution design throughout the project life cycle.
• This includes initial requirements elicitation, translating requirements to high level design and ensuring development, testing, and implementation activities align with requirements.
• During post-implementation, the Online Business Analyst verifies that requirements and business objectives have been met.
• As the primary bridge between business and technology, the Online Business Analyst is the key facilitator in translating business requirements to the delivered solution.
• He/she understands the language and needs of both communities - forging a shared understanding of what is required on both sides and establishing a climate of cross-functional collaboration.


Responsibilities:

• Work with Project Sponsor to clarify the solution's vision and project scope.
• Identify project stakeholders for requirements elicitation and plan timing and deliverables of the work.
• Elicit requirements using a variety of methods - workshops, interviews, storyboarding, process modeling etc.
• Document requirements specifications according to standard templates using simple, clear, concise language.
• Define quality attributes, interfaces, constraints and other non-functional requirements.
• Represent requirements using alternate views - analysis models (diagrams), use cases, prototypes as appropriate for the initiative.
• Lead requirements analysis and verification, ensuring requirements are complete, concise traceable and testable.
• Lead requirements prioritization effort with the business and technology groups.
• Lead peer reviews and inspection of requirements documents.
• Lead, create and manage the high level design process, creating a high level design package including both process and system solutions.
• Lead the technical analysis for current state and future state as well as impact analysis, interface analysis and system analysis.
• Manage requirements traceability and track requirements throughout project life cycle.
• Manage requirements change through a formal change control process.
• Establish best requirements practices with a focus on continuous improvement.
• Establish means of reusing requirements and other analytical artefacts for concurrent or future projects.
• Review detailed designs to ensure requirements are comprehensively accounted for.

• Superior facilitation/presentation skills to effectively lead requirements elicitation workshops.
• Superior interviewing skills to interact with a variety of people asking the right questions to surface needs.
• Superior listening skills to understand a variety of viewpoints and detect what is not being said.
• Superior analytical skills to evaluate extensive information, abstract this information up or down for different audiences, distinguish between business requests and business needs as well as solution ideas from solution requirements.
• Superior English written and verbal skills to communicate effectively with different functional groups and staff levels.
• Superior organizational skills to manage vast arrays of information from different sources.
• Superior interpersonal skills (collaboration, negotiation, consensus-building, conflict resolution) to establish work priority and address issues effectively.
• Superior modeling skills to depict requirements visually to complement textual information.


Knowledge Needed:

• Understanding of requirements elicitation , analysis, specification, verification, and management practices and the ability to apply them in practice.
• Understanding of business/application domains (retail, marketing, supply chain, logistics) to ensure credibility with business clients.
• Understanding of current and emerging technologies and how they can be leveraged to deliver optimal solutions.
• Understanding of the system development lifecycle, its phases, participants and deliverables.
• This position will focus on web/Internet projects and enhancements.
• A deep affinity for emerging web technologies, including, but not limited to, mobile, social media, and the Internet at large are required for this role.


Qualifications:

• 3-5 years experience in an Intermediate Business Analysis role.
• 3-5 years experience in an IT project delivery environment.
• Experience in various project methodologies (in-house development, packaged solutions, prototyping etc.).
• University degree or equivalent.
• IIBA Certification ( nice to have).


Performance Measures:

• Evaluation of delivered solutions - adherence to requirements, overall product quality, effectiveness in the work environment.
• Client feedback/satisfaction metrics on solution delivery process and final solution.
• Evaluation of project timelines.
• Evaluation of requirements management process - change control, scope creep, etc.
