• SNC-Lavalin T & D has exciting career opportunities for full time Assistant Buyers.
• Based out of our Calgary office, the Assistant Buyer is part of a dynamic team responsible for the material and services procurement function.
• Working in a team environment, your primary role will be to assist the Buyers in their day-to-day activities.
• Reporting to the Project Procurement and Contracts Manager, this is a permanent in-scope position covered under the terms of the UUWA Collective Agreement, Business Services B3 salary schedule.
• Overall responsibilities for this role include assisting the Buyers on projects to minimizing commercial risk, enhancing competitive advantage, meeting customer expectations and specifications as well as meeting SNC-Lavalin policies and practices.
• This position is in a fast past environment and is an excellent growth opportunity.
Primary responsibilities for the Assistant Buyer are:
• Assisting with the preparation of RFQ’s, RFP’s and PO’s.
• Creating and maintaining procurement files.
• Assisting with qualifying vendors.
• Assisting with vendor selection and bid evaluations.
• Expediting orders.
• Assisting with the return and follow-up of damaged material.
• Assisting with resolution of invoice discrepancies.
Qualifications for the position include:
• High school diploma required.
• Minimum 2 years related experience in material procurement, supply chain management and/or contract administration.
• PMAC Level I or equivalent related training.
• Demonstrated ability in Vendor Management Practices.
• Demonstrated experience in executing contractual Terms & Conditions in conjunction with established purchasing policies.
• Knowledge of PM+ would be an asset.
• A willingness to learn new skills.
• Strong interpersonal and communication (both written and oral) skills.
• Self starter and the ability to work both in a team environment or independently.
• Strong analytical and innovative problem solving skills.
• Ability to deal with competing priorities and manage time effectively.
• Experience in an EPC or Project environment would be an asset.
