Description:
• To maintain a technical knowledge of Rolls-Royce and supplier engineering, deploying it to provide technical support to ensure suppliers meet quality and engineering requirements.
• To complete the flow down of regulatory and product integrity requirements to the supplier.
• Working to the demand signal from the purchasing groups to improve supply chain design and optimize supplier cost structures in support of business targets.
Key Accountabilities:
• Validate engineering drawings through manufacturing buy-off signature after performing technical assessment of supplier's technical capability and providing recommendations.
• Identify manufacturing related cost opportunities and validate supplier's cost structures in support of value improvement analysis.
• Establish that the supplier's understanding of product technical requirements is sufficient to ensure that components are consistently manufactured to comply with engineering, regulatory and safety requirements.
• Work in an Integrated Product Team to lead successful product introduction, production readiness and component proving in suppliers.
• Work with definers in IPT's to ensure that complete and unambiguous technical information is provided to suppliers for components to be supplied, co-ordinating and resolving supplier technical issues in a timely way.
• Ensure part control elements of Create Customer Solutions process are identified on orders and ensure that they are understood by the supplier and are correctly executed (e.g. First Article Inspection requirements/ Fixed Process Document for Sensitive and Critical Parts/ Customer specific requirements).
• Ensure that source and method change processes are operated fully and that technical information is supplemented or amended as necessary to maintain and complete the flow down of design authority.
• Work level 3 of 3-in-1 Problem Resolution process as required.
• Undertake small scale component proving and to quickly identify the need for large scale component proving.
• Work tactical and strategic improvements in manufacturing using DMAIC principles.
• Coach management in suppliers to develop their competency to ensure compliance with SABRe component validation requirements.
• Identify and take appropriate action when suppliers do not meet SABRe expectations.
• Required to develop and execute both internal and external training relating to manufacturing processes at suppliers.
• Responsible to manage internal and external stakeholders through change and process improvement activities.
• Share ideas and information that benefit the team's effectiveness and competency.
• Support the management to ensure purchasing staff diligently comply with processes as defined in Rolls-Royce Quality Management System (or equivalent).

Qualifications and Experience:
• University degree in Industrial/ Mechanical Engineering and 5 years experience in Manufacturing Engineering, Planning or Production Engineering in a directly related industry.
• OIQ Membership required to approve manufacturing design drawings.
• Excellent knowledge of Engineering drawings, specification and technical information.
Preferred:
• Knowledgeable and possesses a good understanding of quality systems and experience in the creation of quality procedures (i.e. ISO9000, AS9000).
• ISO lead auditor or internal auditor experience.
• Advanced Quality Planning Approach experience (Six Sigma, Automotive Quality Systems).
• Process Improvement Leader accreditation is strongly encouraged.
• Good knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles.
• Basic knowledge of supply chain management principles.
• Knowledge of PC software.
