Description:
• As a member of the Mechanical Engineering team, the Electro-Mechanical Components Specialist will be the prime contact within the Mechanical team for electro-mechanical component parts investigation, design and qualification readiness for new handheld designs.
• Electro-mechanical parts types will include various mobile switches such as domes, connectors (battery, antenna, elastomeric, board to board, USB, spring contacts and memory card), receivers and microphones, I/O devices, SIM readers, camera sockets and modules, LCD's and FPC's.
• The incumbent will also be fully involved in component research, re-design of existing parts and investigation and audit of component suppliers as well as support Component Quality and reliability in QA verification as an Electro-Mechanical Design consultant along.
• Further more the incumbent will support various other internal groups such as RF, acoustic, LCD's, manufacturing, industrial design, purchasing and commodity management in a design capacity as required.
• The incumbent's other duties include design support of product definition, creation of preliminary component designs and respective parts drawings using Pro/Engineer 3D CAD software, acquiring 3D mechanical component/part models from suppliers, creation and maintenance of on-going electro-mechanical component part reference designs database for easy review by the mechanical engineering team.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
• A minimum of 5 years experience with Electro-mechanical components.
• Self motivated individual with strong interpersonal, organizational and time management skills for project multi-tasking.
• Experience with Pro/Engineer 3DCAD, Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and MS Project tools.
• Familiarity with electronics packaging and qualification test methods, tolerance stack analysis, plastic injection molding and metal stamping.
• Handheld or cell phone, consumer electronic or connector industry experience desirable.
