Description:

• One of the key functions of the Rio Tinto Procurement Global Services team is to develop and deploy global strategies for a wide range of professional services, including information technology, travel and professional consultancy to support the Rio Tinto Group on a worldwide basis.
• Annual spend on these items equates to greater than US$ 900 million.
• A key objective of Global Services is to capture sustained and competitive value in the global services arena through category and sourcing strategies, working with senior stakeholders to derive maximum value from Group arrangements.
• Expert knowledge of services markets, services application in Group Operations and the utilisation of Group purchasing leverage and collaboration are fundamental to our success.
• In Global Sourcing, these objectives are achieved through a global centralised category management model via a central commercial centre of excellence in Singapore supported by regional teams.
• Reporting to the Category Manager your role is to understand and capture Rio Tinto Business Unit's drivers in the Global Category Management plan.
• You will also translate and influence category strategy implementation in the Business Units and develop requirements for the sourcing programs.
• The Regional Manager role ensures day to day contract management and administration through a team of contract management specialists.
• Within the Global Category Management model it is critical for this role to ensure deeper engagement and understanding of Business Unit's needs across commodities, and to ensure supply chain strategies are in place to deliver sustained value and competitive advantage.
• The successful applicant will be an exceptional leader with extensive knowledge of Category markets (professional services, including information technology, travel and professional consultancy would be beneficial) along with the ability to understand and challenge technical specifications for Category based on their use in the resources industry.
• You will thrive in a high profile role; be able to manage strategic supplier relationships on a global level or across multiple regions, and have experience of working closely with, and influencing senior management.
• You will ideally possess the relevant tertiary qualifications (Business, HR, or Supply Chain/Procurement preferred) and your ability to formulate and present compelling strategies and business cases along with the development and implementation of innovative supply strategies at regional/local level will separate you as a top performer.
